General questions on cooperation
How does the booking process work?
The booking process is simple and straightforward: You make an enquiry, ideally with the desired date and the most important details – either by email or by phone. Depending on your requirements, you will either receive a suitable quote straight away or we will clarify everything else in a brief conversation. For larger projects or more complex orders, a face-to-face meeting may also be advisable. Once you have agreed to the quote and paid a deposit, your appointment is confirmed. Shortly before the shoot, we will have a final phone call to discuss the process and clarify any updates.
What information do you need to create a quote?
To prepare a quote, I need some basic information, such as the type of photos (e.g. portraits, event photography or product photography), the occasion of the shoot, the location of the photos, the number of people or subjects, whether additional models are required and the intended use of the photos (e.g. private or commercial).
Can I arrange an initial consultation?
You can arrange an initial consultation at any time – by phone, video call or in person. It’s a good opportunity to clarify your questions and develop ideas together.
How far in advance should I book an appointment?
The earlier you book your appointment, the better your chances of getting the date you want, as we can then plan everything without any time pressure.
Are bookings at short notice possible?
Short-term bookings are sometimes possible, but this depends on my availability. If I do not have a free appointment, I will be happy to help you with a recommendation.
Do you offer discounts for regular customers or larger projects?
I offer special conditions for social projects or NGOs. Otherwise, the following applies: The quality and reliability of my work are the focus, so there are no general discounts.
Preparation questions
What is the best way to prepare myself or my team for the photo shoot?
Preparing for a photo shoot starts with relaxation. Be curious and look forward to discovering new sides to yourself. Take enough time for the shoot – the more relaxed you are, the better the results will be.
What clothing or props do you recommend for the shoot?
As for clothing, choose something you feel comfortable in and feel free to bring a change of clothes in different colours and styles. Props that match the idea can also enhance the shoot. It’s best to discuss this with me in advance.
Do I need styling or make-up, and can you recommend someone for this?
Whether styling or make-up is necessary depends on the shoot. In many cases it is not absolutely necessary, but professional make-up and hairstyling can significantly improve your well-being and therefore the result. I work with experienced stylists and make-up artists who I am happy to recommend or book for your appointment.
Can I bring my own ideas or inspirational pictures?
If you have your own ideas or inspirational images, be sure to bring them to the preliminary meeting. They will help us to agree on the desired style and visual language and incorporate them into the shoot. However, experience has shown that it is not so easy to change arrangements on the day of the shoot, as I have prepared the date accordingly.
Technical and creative aspects
What kind of camera and equipment do you use?
I work with modern digital 35mm cameras, which generally deliver excellent image quality. I also use medium-format or large-format cameras for special requirements, but this is more the case for elaborate studio productions.
Do you edit the pictures after the shoot?
After the shoot, I edit each image carefully. This includes white balance, tonal value and colour corrections. For portraits, I also offer detailed skin retouching if desired.
Complex image retouching can also be offered for large advertising productions. This always makes sense if a motif consists of several images or if a certain effect is easier to realise in post-production than on set.
How long does the post-processing take?
How long the post-processing takes depends on the project. While simple colour corrections can be done quite quickly, complex retouching takes more time. If it is urgent, I am flexible and can also work under time pressure. For event photography in particular, we can agree that the images will be edited and sent out on the spot.
Do you only work in your studio, or can you also take photos on location?
I prefer to photograph on location or at special locations. If controlled conditions are required, I have a studio at my disposal and I also bring mobile equipment with me.
Costs and payment
What does a photo shoot cost?
The cost of a photo shoot depends on the type of project. For events I charge by the hour, for other projects there are often flat rates. There are special conditions for NGOs and social projects. The price includes the fee, the rights of use within the agreed framework, standard image processing and the provision of the photos. Travelling expenses or material costs are shown transparently in the offer.
How does the payment work?
After the shoot, you will receive an invoice that you can pay conveniently by bank transfer. Payment by instalments is possible if you wish. Additional costs, such as for travelling or special requirements, are listed in advance in the offer – there are no hidden costs.
Legal questions
Who owns the rights to the photos?
The copyright to the images remains with me as the photographer. However, the rights of use are transferred to you within the agreed framework and are precisely defined in the offer. If you want to use the images commercially, that’s no problem – we’ll simply clarify this beforehand.
Can I get the raw files of the images?
As a rule, I do not release raw files, as they are only the first step in the creative process.
How long do you keep the pictures?
I keep your pictures for the long term so that you can still place repeat orders years later.
Results and delivery
How many pictures will I receive after the shoot?
We agree on the number of final images before the shoot.
In which format are the photos delivered?
You will receive them as high-resolution JPGs, and TIFF files are also available on request.
When can I see the first results?
During the shoot, we can view interim results on a monitor.
I provide a preview of the selected images in an online lightbox, usually within 24 hours. After your selection, the final processing takes about two working days. If you are in a particular hurry, I can also edit the images on site and send them to you directly.
Can I order additional pictures or prints?
You can order additional pictures or high-quality prints at any time. I also offer the design of photo books or printing as fine art prints on Hahnemühle paper up to A3.
Have I forgotten something? There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.
