Resistance to climate change
Climate activism in focus: Insights into Munich protests
The photos on display document various actions by young climate activists over an extended period of time – from street blockades in Berlin and protests in front of the Siemens Annual General Meeting to naked appeals against fast fashion on Black Friday. Sometimes activists chain themselves to Munich airport, sometimes they stick themselves to the Siemens headquarters or demonstrate in front of consulates. Behind all these creative, sometimes radical forms of protest is a clear message: climate change requires urgent action.
The images also show the reaction of the police, which ranges from simple warnings to violent evictions. Civil disobedience is never a means to an end, but an expression of deep concern for one’s own future and for the future of all living beings on this planet. Whether peaceful disruptive actions or art installations – the aim is always to shake up society and politics and to persuade them to comply with climate targets.
